Long time no post...

So there has been a lot going on in the life of little Lyla since the last time we posted. Lyla has been traveling all over God's green earth...or so it seems. We went back to St. Clairsville for David's 10 year reunion. It was a lot of fun and Lyla got to hang out with Grandma and Pap for many hours. She also slept 7 hours straight for the first time. Kurt and Lois came over to see Lyla...the newlyweds!
After that we went headed to Columbus. Ryan and Jill were nice enough to let Kari's family crash their house to exchange cars, babies, dogs and mums! Here is a picture with Aunt Jill and Cousin Isaac...oh yeah and Lyla's newest cousin in Jill's belly! Her new cousin will be here right around Christmas.

Our dear friend Kellie will be getting married in October and Lyla attended her first bridal shower. She was one of many babies at the shower. We will say that she was the prettiest, but we are a little partial :) We also stopped in Marion and saw Aunt Kat, Uncle Vinnie and Uncle Craig. Can't wait to see them again!

David was working in Indiana for a week so Lyla made the trip with mommy to stay at Nana and Papas. Lyla made her first (of many) trip to Netty's (famous chili dogs) and saw her very first sunset.

We also met Lyla's great grandparents (Gma and Gpa Woodling below and Gma and Gpa Hornsby not pictured- on my parents camera!) and Great Aunt Cindy and Great Uncle Scott. She was pretty excited!

Lyla also had her 2 month checkup where she had to get 3 nasty shots. Mommy cried more than she did. Good thing we have daddy to keep us calm. Kari thinks that she may stay outside the room the next time. Lyla weighed 10 lbs 4 ozs and was 22 inches. The crazy part is Kari looked at her baby book while at her parents house and realized that she was 10 lbs 4 ozs and 22 inches at her 2 month checkup...unreal. We also had her daycare orientation and once again Kari cried more than Lyla. It is a very nice center, but it is still going to be hard! Her teachers are Miss Jessica and Miss Elissa. She will start there on September 14th.

We also listened to Uncle Craig host his radio show. He gave us a real shout out and everything! Here is a picture of Lyla and Nana watching and listening to him!

Lyla has been working on finding her voice. Here is a video of her chatting to herself.

Also, she has been smiling a lot more. We also caught this on video as well :)

David went to his fantasy football draft last night. This inspired Kari to dress Lyla up in her Steelers cheerleading uniform and get ready for September 10th! Is this not the cutest baby you have ever seen?
This is Kari's last week at home before she goes back to work. We are just trying to get everything ready. We are headed up to Port Clinton for the weekend to see family and friends. Kari and David may even get to go to Cedar Point while Nana and Papa watch Lyla and Miles! Hooray!

Party Like a Rock Star...

Lyla attended her first party......a baby shower! Kari co-hosted a shower for her friend Amy on Saturday in Cincinnati. Kari's first road trip alone with Lyla and it went very well. On the road Lyla cried one time for about 15 seconds, and then was over it.

Carson and Amy are having a little girl named Avery Quinn in October. We have a feeling that Lyla and Avery will be best buddies. They will be in the same daycare and will be causing trouble together in no time. Check out Lyla's awesome party dress.

On Sunday our friend Jeff came over to visit. He really liked hanging out with Lyla. He can't wait to teach her about OSU football and drinking beer :) He was even calculating how old he would be when she turned 21. That made us feel really old.

We are trying not to jinx anything, but the past two nights Lyla has slept really well. Saturday night she slept for 6 hours straight and last night she slept for 6.5 hours straight. Then took three two hour naps! She has been napping in her crib, and next week we are going to have her start sleeping in her room. Kari just isn't 100% ready for that yet. She definitely is a good sleeper. With David for a dad it is no wonder. Sleepy girl!

Today was a Lyla and Daddy day. Kari had a work retreat, so David took the afternoon off to watch the girl. They had fun folding laundry, taking a nap, going to Walmart and showing off her smiles. David is very jealous that Kari spends every day with Lyla. He is really good at teaching Lyla good sleep habits. She loves to snuggle with Daddy.

That is the update for this week. Lyla will be 7 weeks on Wednesday. It is really hard to believe she is that old already! Our baby is growing up...sniff sniff.

Road Trip!!

Lyla's first road trip! David had to work in Indiana for a few days, so Kari and Lyla went to stay with Aunt Kris in Indy. Nana and Papa were there to witness the first road trip and there was only one minor meltdown (Bron, Lyla and Kari) to speak of in Batesville. Makes sense that they meltdown took place in the city where they make caskets...just creepy. Lyla left Kentucky for the first time and ventured into Ohio and Indiana...exciting times! She was reunited with her cousin Miles. He was very happy to see his cousin and continued to say "baby" our entire stay. He did also tell her "buh-bye" a lot. We tried not to take it personally. Here is a shot of Nana and Papa with their grand kids.

Highlights from Indy include...

1. Lyla sleeping 5.5 hours straight for the first time

2. Miles teaching us how to brush our teeth

3. Lyla starting to show real smiles

4. Crunch Coat from Frosty Boy...even though Lyla did not get to experience this due to another meltdown

David came to pick us up on Friday and we continued our adventure to St. Clairsville. Lyla slept from Indy to Pickerington before we decided we better wake her up to eat. The trip was pretty uneventful.

While in St. Clairsville Lyla got some much needed Grandma and Pap Pap time. Pap took lots of pictures and played with Lyla non-stop. Lyla also had many visitors on Saturday. David's Aunt Kathy and cousins Shayna, Rachelle, Kari, Erin, Nicole and Daniel came over to visit. Also, some of their kids came over too. 7 girls and 1 boy total. They all loved holding Lyla and avoiding crazy beagle Bron. Here is a shot of all of the company we had!

Lyla also got to attend her first wedding reception. David's best friend Kurt got married in Portland and it was too close to Lyla's due date for us to attend. His reception was really nice and Lyla got to wear this cute dress and her Mr. Rogers sweater. David and Kari got to meet Kurt's new wife and visited with many friends from high school. Lyla left the party early with Grandma and Pap to have more bonding time. She was a very good girl and slept some 3 hour blocks! She has yet to experience Home Pizza. Maybe next time....
She is a very good traveler. We feel really lucky. On the way home she made it from St. Clairsville to Cincinnati without waking up. David had to get his much needed LaRosa's fix...so it was perfect timing.
Here is a picture of her at 5.5 weeks. Pictures like this make the up-all-nights worth it. Real smiles!!!

Lyla Rolls Over!!!

So you would think on her one month birthday Lyla would be way to young to roll over. Well...she did it! I would think this would have been a fluke, but it was the 7th time she did it! I didn't want to post until I was sure! Her mommy is so proud! She obviously was not thrilled with it!

Lyla's first month...

We are so excited to share Lyla's first month with you. We cannot believe she is 4 weeks old already!! Here is one of our first family pictures...
The birth was a scheduled c-section at 1:30 on Wednesday June 24th. Everything went very well. When she first came out David took lots of pictures of our girl and then took her to the nursery so that all of our family could see her. David also got to tell them her name. Lyla is a name that we both thought was so pretty...easy to say...easy to spell....no nicknames...and very girlie. Anne is the middle name of Kari's mom. We wanted to honor her because she has been such a huge part of our lives. Here is a picture of everyone that came for the birth. They sort of resemble animals in the zoo. We were really happy to have everyone there to share the special day with us!

We stayed in the hospital from Wednesday-Sunday and came home on Sunday afternoon. Bron really was great with Lyla. I think he misses the attention of being an only child, but he will get over that soon enough. We had two weeks with David before he had to go back to work. Pretty much Lyla just likes hanging out with her dad and watching Reds games. Here is a picture of the two. David is so in love with his little girl.

Lyla has also had a few other adventures. She was jaundice so we had to take her back to the doctor the day after she got out of the hospital and two days after that. It cleared up, but sadly she had to be pricked in the heel a few times to figure that out. The nurse was calling her our "old yeller baby" in a super serious Kentucky accent. Lyla also had her first bath a few days after she came home. She didn't mind it too much.

6 days after she came home we celebrated her first holiday. The 4th of July! We really did not do a whole lot, but at least she had a cute outfit to show off! (Thanks to Aunt Kris)
For the past couple of weeks Lyla has had a busy schedule of eating, sleeping (during the day), pooping, sneezing and getting the hiccups. She has her days and nights mixed up, but hopefully will grow out of that soon. She does love to sleep during the day.... a lot...

Bron has also learned to adjust to her. He is very good about being gentle and making sure she is ok. He gets up for every feeding and then snores louder than a freight train. We have also had to adjust to her schedule. Kari is a very sleepy mommy these days, but knows it will get better over the next few weeks. Hopefully Lyla will have it figured out by the time Kari has to go back to work.

We are really enjoying this time with her and are looking forward to all of the other fun things to come!!

Lyla Anne is here!

Hey there everyone. In true Kari and David fashion, we have not updated this blog once again...We will post more later but wanted to update this almost 3 weeks after she was born!
Lyla Anne Kolb joined the world on June 24, 2009 at 1:55 p.m. She weighed 6 pounds 12 ounces and was 18 3/4 inches long. She is such an amazing little girl and we have fallen in love with her already! Here is her hospital picture....

We will post more soon!

10 days!!!

So let's admit this...We suck at updating our blog and I am sure it will only get worse when the baby comes. So first of all we have a new C-Section date for our little girl. June 24th! 10 days away! I guess she wanted to come early to join Uncle Jason, Aunt Kristin, and cousin Miles in the June birthdays. It is also her mommy and daddy's wedding anniversary month. Busy month to say the least!

We had a very nice birthday celebration for Miles in Lexington for his 1st birthday on June 7th. He looks pretty amused right? After he got cake, he was much happier!

We also got to sample some local yumminess at Pazzo's....a delicious pizza place in town. It was nice to have Kari's family in town.

Shortly after the birthday celebration baby girl decided to cause some contractions for Kari. She contracted all of Sunday night and decided to go to the doctor on Monday. She was admitted to the hospital, but luckily was not progressing at all, so she just had to suck up the pain of the fun contractions. She was released on Thursday with a new C-Section date. The doctor does not want to take any more chances since she has been in the hospital for 3 weeks now since being pregnant. Kari will have to check in on June 24th at 8am to get an amniocentesis done. Does not sound fun to have a needle put in your belly, but they have to make sure the baby's lungs are developed before the can deliver her. Her C-Section will be at 1:30pm. Hopefully everything will turn out just dandy.

David has been working hard to get everything put together in this short time frame (rocker, baby gate, pack and play, swing, and car seat). We will post more pictures when everything is finished.

Last week Kari and David went to a co-workers wedding. Here is Kari at 35 weeks. Still wearing heels!

We are getting pretty excited to meet our little girl. Hopefully, we will update this one more time before the birth and shortly after with pictures. Thanks for looking!

Less than 6 weeks....

Less than 6 weeks until we meet our little girl! Kari has been having a rough time sleeping...and realizes that there will be more of where that came from soon enough! Baby Kolb has been moving around like crazy, but usually waits until it is her mommy's bedtime before she really starts getting crazy.

Kari and Dave also found out that their best friends Amy and Carson (see below)are expecting a little girl too! Her name will be Avery (still not telling our name...nice try) and she will be 3 months younger than Baby Kolb. We are thrilled for them! They will be in the same daycare and we know they will be best friends :)

Little Girl's room is coming along....here are a few pictures of the almost-finished product. We still need to get some things on the walls and also are waiting to purchase our glider for that last corner in the next two weeks!

We are also trying to decide what to bring her home from the hospital in. Kari's mom gave her the dress she brought her home in, but it has a matching sweater that will be WAY too hot for July, and Kari might want to bring her home in something a little less scratchy!! After 28 years things are bound to be a bit uncomfy...Here are a couple of ideas...I guess we will have to wait and see.

David went on this 8th annual Nascar trip this past weekend with his brothers and a bunch of friends. He had a great time with his "Nastache'" and other white trash behavior. The race did get rained out, but it seems like they had a great time anyway!
David has been traveling a lot to Indiana for work. It makes us a little nervous with the birth so close, but he is only a 3 hour drive and can be home in a Jiffy. Kari and Bron are very sad when he is away...this is a typical Bron face when realizing that Davy is gone for the week.

Here is how we feel when we know he is coming home...

Thanks for reading!!

Long Lost Blog!

Hey there everyone! We are so sorry we have not been posting! We promise to get better about it. Over the past several weeks, a lot has been going on. Kari went into preterm labor mid-April and was in the hospital for 4 days. Luckily, Kari's mom was available to come down and stay with her. Then, due to some of the antibiotics they gave her in the hospital...she was re-admitted with a severe condition due to the Ulcerative Colitis she has. Two weeks in the hospital...fun times! The baby is fine and Kari is feeling much better. The next week she celebrated her 28th birthday with good friends Amy and Carson!

Here is also a picture of Kari at almost 31 weeks...

Kari's mom and sister had a shower for her at the lake in April and it was wonderful! There were so many friends and family that were able to make it...and too many wonderful gifts for the baby girl :) Kari really enjoyed seeing everyone!

Kari's friend Amy also hosted a shower for Kari in Lexington this past weekend. It was so beautiful and it was great to see so many friends! Too many great gifts were given again. This girl is going to have more clothes than she knows what to do with!

We also had family come in this weekend and it was great to see Miles, Aunt Kris, Uncle Jason, Nana and Papa. We will see them again in 3 weeks for Miles' 1st birthday party!! I cannot believe he is going to be 1! Also, our nephew Isaac turned 1 on Saturday....we are sad we had to miss it, but I am sure there will be pictures to come!

Other highlights...

1. Kari will be 33 weeks this Thursday!

2. Baby Kolb will be born on July 6th around 8am. We have a scheduled C-Section due to Kari's Ulcerative Colitis.

3. We have decided on a name...and no we are still not telling :)

4. We almost have her room together....Here is a preview...still not finished, but getting close! Thanks to Tiffany for making the curtains!

3 months and counting....

Hey there everyone! Sorry that we have not posted in a while....Just to update you on a few things that are happening in the life of Baby Girl Kolb. This week Kari will be entering her 25th week of pregnancy! Yay! Only 3 months to go! Our baby weighs about a pound and a half and is about 13½ inches long—roughly the length of one of those recorders you played in elementary school music class. Who's up for a round of "Hot Cross Buns?" Here is a picture of Kari at 24 weeks. We think the baby is growing!!

We have been working hard to get the baby's room started....we picked out a paint color, found some fabrics for the curtains, painted a few tables, picked up the crib and dresser and decided on where to put everything! While Kari is away at her mom's for a shower in a couple of weeks, David is going to paint the baby's room. Pretty exciting! We decided on a sage green paint, and fabrics in pink and brown. It will be very girlie :) Here is some of the fabric (the stripes are the curtains and the others will be pillows on the extra bed in the room) along with the paint color.
Kari's dear friend Tiffany will be sewing all of the items...Kari is not so talented in the sewing department!

Bron still thinks he is the king of the castle, but hopefully when he hears the first few screams he will realize that "his room" is long gone. He does kiss Kari's belly from time to time and refuses to leave her side.

Last but not least....we can only hope our baby girl is as cool as her cousin Miles. Look at his new "faux-hawk" he has been sporting around town. Pretty cute!!

Until next time....(which hopefully will be sooner than later!)
